Debut

1978
Susan Gudgeon made her debut in 1978 in the role of Cherubino in the Canadian Opera Company’s production of “Le Nozze di Figaro” which toured throughout Canada and the United States. She also appeared at the Guelph Spring Festival in the “Beggar’s Opera”, and at the Stratford Festival in Leonad Bernstein’s “Candide”.

Tisbe in “Cenerentola”

1979
In 1979 she performed he role of Tisbe wih the Canadian Opera’s “Cenerentola”, and subsequently eeated this role ith the Vancouver Opera. In 1980, she appeared as Hansel with he Calgary Opera, performed, with Luciano Berio condcting, his “Songs for Mezzo-Soprano” for New Music Concerts in Toronto, and recorded R.Murray Schafer’s “Loving Toi” for Mercantile Records. This recording was nominated for a Canadian Juno Award.

Perfomances

1985-86
Susan Gudgeon appeared at the Shaw Festival in “Naughty Marietta” and Noel Coward’s “Cavalcade” in a total of 168 perfomances.
Last season Miss Gudgeon was heard at Ontario Place with the Hamilton Philarmonic in the Messiah, with the Oshawa Symphony and in Murray Geddes’ “Rainy Thursday” at Comus Music Theatre in Toronto.
In 1985-86, Miss Gudgeon will be heard in Toronto as Nancy in “Martha” for Opera in Concert, and in the Verdi Requiem in Hamilton.
